NIST is the federal technology agency that works with industry to develop and apply technology, measurements, and standards.
NIST recently (August 2010) released the approved testing procedures for evaluating EHRs and EHR modules to the standards, implementation specs and certification criteria for The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC’s) Temporary Certification Program.
These procedures will be used by federally authorized testing and certification bodies (ATCB’s) who will be announced in September 2010. (Information courtesy of Healthcare Technology News.)
