Provider Revalidation: CMS Answers Your Questions on October 27th National Provider Call
CMS will hold a National Provider Call to discuss the revalidation of Medicare provider enrollment information on Thursday, October 27th, 2011; from 12:30 – 2PM Eastern. Most providers and suppliers who are enrolled in the Medicare program will have to revalidate their enrollment which will be reviewed under the new risk screening criteria required by the Affordable Care Act Section 6401(a). Learn what you can expect and how to prepare for this process.
Target Audience: All providers and suppliers enrolled with Medicare prior to March 25, 2011 and who expect to receive payment from Medicare for services provided!!!!!! (I had to add those exclamation points – what a statement – if you expect to be paid, you need to revalidate.)
The agenda will include:
- What is Revalidation?
- ACA Screening Requirements
- Electronic Funds Transfer
- Streamlining the Process
- Phased Revalidation
- Tips on Revalidation
- Question and Answer Session (my favorite!)
Registration Information: In order to receive the call-in information, you must register for the call. Registration will close at 12pm on Thursday, October 27, 2011 or when available space has been filled; no exceptions will be made, so please register early. For more details, including instructions on registering for the call, click here. The audio recording and written transcript will be posted after the call.
Presentation: The presentation will be posted at least one day before the call in the “Downloads” section of the page here.

The hospital received a Revalidation request address to Psychiatric Unit, does this need to be done for all or just the Psychiatric?
Hi Frankie,
Sorry it has taken me so long to answer – I’ve been looking for an answer for you. To the best of my knowledge, the Psychiatric Unit is the only one that needs to revalidate.
Best Wishes,
Mary Pat
I listened to the seminar today on the revalidation of enrollments in CMS. During question and answers, one caller was very close to the same situation I find myself in and I have the same questions. Since I will not be able to hear what you tell her, I still would like to know the answers.
I credential for a radiology group that is hospital based. My physicians are diagnostic radiologists but all ACR certifications are done at the hospital level where they practice. They practice at seven hospitals in the radiology department. Although the hospital certification are based on their ABOR certs, their cmes, and the number of procedures they read – they do not receive individual certifications for CMS’s requirements (ADI?).
How does this affect our ability to be paid for diagnostic procedures according to CMS’s regulations?

Hi Donna,
I have consulted several people about your question and here is the answer I received from Jody Waters at McKesson:
“The new requirement for ACR certification for high end modalities by CMS only applies to free standing centers, it does not apply to Part A providers (hospitals) and therefore for those billing professional only at a hospital location, then the requirement does not apply. Now, if they are billing professional components at a freestanding imaging center, it would apply and they would need to make sure the imaging centers are complying with the requirement.”

Your website is very helpful. It was the 1st place I could find information on the CMS call yesterday. Unfortunately registration was closed and we could not attend. I am trying to find the published presentation with no luck. Can you help direct those of us who did not make the call?
Hi Marta,
Unfortunately, I was not able to attend the call either. I am not sure if they had a published presentation, but it would not be unusual for them to publish the transcript or an audio recording of the call. It usually takes about 2 weeks for that to happen. I’ll keep my eyes open for it and publish it or a link when it becomes available.
Best wishes,
Mary Pat
We were unable to connect to the call on October 27th and have been waiting for the recording to be posted. Has anyone received information regarding the link at this time?
Thank you, Maria
Hi Maria,
I’ve not seen it show up yet. Has anyone else?
Best wishes,
Mary Pat
